School Based Immunizations

BC youth are offered routine immunizations in Grade 9 to protect them from a number of serious communicable diseases.  These vaccines are conveniently administered at school by public health nurses.  Information about the immunizations and consent forms will be sent home with students approximately 1 month prior to the date of the immunization clinic.  We recommend that you discuss these vaccines with your teen prior to completing the consent form and returning it to the school.  If they do not have a consent form signed by a parent or guardian, Grade 9 students are able to consent for immunization on their own behalf as outlined by the BC Infants Act. More information about Mature Minor Consent can be found at the link below. If you have questions about the immunizations that your teen is eligible for, please see the following links or contact the Chilliwack Public Health Unit at 604-702-4900.
